Stage 12, The Silver Way
This is one of the most beautiful stages of the Camino and has some complicated sections with long climbs and descents.
We leave Castile to enter Galicia, overcoming the ‘Alto da Canda’, a hard and beautiful climb on a path of 4 km with 300m of positive difference in altitude.
It crosses some small towns, climbs, descents, leafy roads and less until you reach the village of ‘A Gudiña’ where there are two variants of the Camino, by Verín or Laza. On this occasion, due to distance and beauty, the chosen variant is Laza.
We pass through several villages until we reach the Natural Park of O Invernadeiro de ‘Das Portas’.
On the descent that leads to Campobecerros you have to be careful because of the loose slate and the amount of stones as it can be dangerous.
The path continues to the ‘Alto da Camba’ where there is a cross in memory of the pilgrims and from where you can only enjoy the descent until you reach Laza.
